Intro

Hey everyone, welcome back to Revel Forms!
Today we're talking about how to decide who to ask to be in your Revel video and how to recruit those individuals.

Asking someone to be in your video can be a little tough:

"Hey, how would you like to sit in front of a camera with a bright light on you — oh, and we’re going to put a microphone on you too?"

Our team has shot a lot of video, and what we’ve learned is this:
Who you ask to be in your video is almost as important as what type of content you talk about.

Choosing the Perfect Host

You want to find the experts in your business.

Let’s use a dentist office as an example:

  • Say you have 15–20 employees
  • You have both a pediatric department and an orthodontics department

You might think:

“Oh, Ted is great with kids — he’d be perfect for pediatric,”
“Sarah is awesome with ortho — she really knows her stuff.”

But it’s possible that even though Ted is your best pediatric expert, he may be a terrible choice on camera. If Ted doesn’t want to be in the video, move on.

Instead, keep your options open:

  • Receptionists or dental hygienists often make great choices.
  • If someone like Mike the receptionist is excited to be on camera and is the first face your patients see — he might be the perfect person to represent pediatric care, even if he didn’t study dentistry.

Tip #1 – Pitching to Your Team

Before approaching team members, have your video outline and goals ready.

In our experience, people will ask:

  • “What’s the video all about?”
  • “What exactly am I signing up for?”
  • “What should I wear?”

Even if you can’t answer the wardrobe question yet, you can reassure them:

“It’s low pressure, for the website only, and users can choose between pediatric or ortho. If they select pediatric, we want them to meet you — because you’re such a great face for this company.”

Tip #2 – Show Examples

Show them examples of other Revel Forms.

We have a full library you can share so people can say:

“Oh, this isn’t one of those awkward homepage videos — it’s interactive!”

Seeing examples will help them understand:

  • Where they fit in the video logic
  • How relaxed and informal it feels

It will ease their nerves.

Tip #3 – Use Our FAQ & Resources

Standing in front of a camera isn’t easy — especially for those not used to it.

We’ve created:

  • FAQ guides (what to wear, what to expect, how to prepare)
  • Answers to common questions like:
    • “Should I write a script?” → Probably not.
    • “Will there be a teleprompter?” → Also no.

We want everything to feel natural and informal, just like a real customer conversation.
